Who else has access to your information?

Cookies

Cookies are more than just tasty snacks. They’re also little encrypted data files that are created when you load a website in your browser. Every time you go back to that website, your browser will access that information and send it to the site’s server. Cookies are used for various purposes, including storing your preferences so you don’t have to enter them in again next time. They’re basically used all over the internet, including on our site.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

You can read more about cookies here. If you decide you don’t like cookies, you can disable them yourself in your browser.

Google Analytics

We want to know what pages are the most popular so we can improve our site content and usability. For this reason, we use Google Analytics, which collects statistics about our visitors. This includes information about session time, pages visited, date and time of visit, the mode with which you came to our site (e.g. Google search or through a link elsewhere), and your location.

Embedded content and links to other sites

Some of our articles include videos and pictures embedded from other sites. If you click on an embedded video, your information will be used in the same way as if you had actually visited the host site. Your data may be collected and/or monitored by the original creators of the embedded content.

Where we include links to other sites, you are clicking the links at your own risk. While we have looked at all the sites that we’ve included links for, these links will take you to another site where we have no control or responsibility in relation to the use and collection of your personal data.

Drift

Our live chat is powered by Drift, which means they have access to the information you put in our live chat. By using our live chat, you consent to Drift receiving your personal information. You can have a look at their privacy policy here.

MailChimp

We use MailChimp to manage our subscriptions, such as newsletter subscriptions. By providing your email and consenting to receive email promotions, newsletters, and updates, you consent to MailChimp receiving your information. You can read their privacy policy here.

Affiliates

Where affiliate links are listed on our site, we may share non-personal statistics with the affiliate host in order to authenticate the affiliate program.

If required by law

We do our best to protect your data. However, if required by law, we may have to provide the Government or any legal authority with whatever data is required by the Government or legal authority.

Your consent

With your consent, we may provide your data with other third parties to help with specific projects or solutions.

How long do we keep your data?

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Just reach out on support, if you wish for us to delete your personal content.

Accuracy of data

It is your responsibility to contact us if your details change, such as email address, name, or contact details. We may require your identity confirmation in order to change any account details.

Changes to our policy

We might have to update our privacy policy if we make any changes to our site or if rules/regulations change, or if we’ve made stupid spelling/grammatical errors.

What can you do to limit the information we receive?

You can choose not to provide us with any optional personal information, but keep in mind this may impact on the quality of service you receive, for example, we may not able to contact you regarding your license renewal or expiration due to not having your most recent details.

You can turn off the cookies in your web browser.

Feel free to ask us any questions about the information we have about you

We’re here to help! Contact us if you want to update, or delete any of the information we have stored about you (excluding any information we need to keep for administrative or security purposes), or if you just want to know more.

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
